| 29/08/09 | The new season's fixtures have now been loaded to the website. Click here to view. |
| 10/03/09 | The team, missing the unavailable Nigel and Colin, put up another valiant effort last night but lost the final game with the scores tied 4 - 4. Peter C and Sue J (who had been unwell for several days) were the pick of the pairs, winning two with Adrian and Judith and Andrew and Dee winning just the one game each, athough both had tight games which ended in defeat. |
| 12/02/09 | With three enforced changes from the previous match and ABC High Halstow enlisting a young County lady player last night's match ended in a narrow defeat. Colin was playing his first match in six months following injury and he and Dee were unlucky to lose against their best pair 14 - 17 in the third rubber although they won their other two games. Peter and Sue also won two games but Gail (who was a late replacement for Jude) and Andrew couldn't quite manage to win any although they put up a good fight. |
| 22/01/09 | A tight match last night against DHBC 'B', resulting in a narrow 5-4 victory to keep us unbeaten this season and top of the league. With no-one really playing at their best, it was pleasing that all the pairs contributed to the win. |
| 20/12/08 | Please note that the next club night will be on 9th January (i.e. no club night on 26th December or on 2nd January). Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone! |
| 04/12/08 | Another 6-3 win last night against a tricky Rede 78 'B' team, which maintains our 100% start to the season. Who needs Colin, eh? (Only joking, Colin!) |
| 20/11/08 | A surprisingly comfortable 7-2 victory last night away against ABC High Halstow, who previously had not lost at home for at least 2 years and had beaten us 5-4 in the same fixture last season. With everyone playing well it was a very encouraging result and bodes well for the rest of the season - a good start was essential this year due to the low number of teams in the division; we can't complain about 2 wins out of 2! |
| 10/10/08 | The first match of the season was played on Wednesday, the result being a very pleasing 6-3 victory over Regis 'A' - all the more so because injuries to two of the team resulted in Andrew being drafted in for only his second match ever. So congratulations are in order to Andrew and Jude for winning two of their games and making the difference between victory and defeat! |
| 05/08/08 | Next season's fixtures have been loaded on the site - only 5 teams (8 matches) in what looks like a very tough division 2! Please note that home fixtures this season will be on Wednesdays, so club nights on Fridays will not be affected. There will also be a match fee, for home matches only, of £3.00. |
| 20/05/08 | The final league positions have now been published by the League Secretary, and we finished third in our division - not bad when you consider we lost as many matches as we won! |
| 16/04/08 | A late night at Castlemaine last night, resulting in another 3-6 defeat against DHBC 'B'. At 3-3 going into the final 3 games we were reasonably confident of a 5-4 victory, but a surprising defeat for Dee & Peter C and a recurrence of Nigel's recent cramping problems forcing he and Gail to concede half way through their final match meant that we finish the season with as many defeats as victories. At least we can expect a mid-table final position, and Jude & Adrian's return to form is encouraging. |
| 10/04/08 | A narrow 5-4 victory last night against already-relegated Hempstead 'B'. A trio of "firsts" in this match; the first home match played on a Wednesday evening, Adrian and Jude winning all three games in a match for the first time and Andrew's first ever league match in which, although they didn't win any rubbers, he and Sue J were certainly not outclassed. This win maintains the very close situation at the top of the league with a 5 of the 6 teams still in contention for promotion. |
| 05/04/08 | What a contrast to the last match! A home 3-6 defeat last night against a strong DHBC 'B' team which still has a chance of winning the league, with none of our pairs really hitting top form. With another two matches following in the next 10 days we need to be careful that the season doesn't just fizzle out, although at least we can take some comfort in the knowledge that we are safe from relegation. Interestingly, we could also still win the league if we win our remaining two matches and other results go our way, but this is extremely unlikely. |
| 14/03/08 | A pleasing 8-1 home victory tonight against the same Regis 'A' team which beat us a couple of months ago, and this result virtually ensures our survival in division 2. The score was actually heading towards 9-0, but Sue L turned her ankle in her last game and conceded that rubber as a precaution - hopefully it's just twisted. |
| 05/03/08 | The rearranged home match against Hempstead B will now be played on Wednesday 9th April, at 7.00. |
| 05/02/08 | This Friday's home match versus Hempstead B has been postponed, so there WILL be a club night this week (on 8th February). |
| 19/01/08 | A lot to say about this one! Back to winning ways last night with a 6-3 home win against ABC High Halstow, to avenge our 4-5 defeat against them earlier in the season. Their team again included the lady who moaned so much after losing to Dee & Nigel in the away fixture; this time, having lost to Gail & Nigel in her first match, she came off court and said that she wished she'd have stayed at home and watched Coronation Street - it would have been more interesting! Charming! This galvanised Dee & Colin, who later beat her 15-0, 15-1, with Colin using her as target practice. This particular lady has always had a reputation for moaning and being a bad loser, and many other teams this season have commented on this. |
| 08/01/08 | A disappointing 3-6 defeat last night against a Regis 'A' team who had only won once before this season. To be fair, all the Regis pairs were pretty strong so it was always going to be difficult, but we should do better in the home fixture in March. |
| 05/01/08 | The Christmas Party photos have now been uploaded (see new page under 'Photos'). Any suggestions for captions will be gratefully received! |
| 17/12/07 | Club night on 21st December will be free - this will be the last club night until 4th January (none on 28th December). Also, we'll hopefully have some photos from the Christmas 'do' up on the site soon, so watch this space! |
| 08/12/07 | Don't forget about the club's Christmas 'do' next Saturday (15th) at the Dragon Inn, Rochester, starting at 7:30. Thanks to Colin for organising this! |
| 02/12/07 | A nice 6-3 away win tonight at Hempstead 'B' to finish off 2007, with Jude & Adrian unlucky not to win their games, all of which were close. If we can continue this form into 2008 we should be looking at another good league position at the end of the season. |
| 09/11/07 | Finally, our first league win of the season; 6-3 against a good Hempstead 'A' team with whom we usually have close matches. Let's hope we can continue this trend in our next match (against Hempstead 'B' next month). |
| 01/11/07 | Another disappointing night last night with the team suffering its second defeat of the season, 4-5 against a team enjoying very strong home advantage (small hall, low ceiling, RED shuttles!). Hopefully we'll be able to avenge this defeat in the return fixture in January. |
| 04/10/07 | The league season gets off to a slow start (as usual!), with a 3-6 defeat against Hempstead 'A', who were relegated from division 1 last season and should therefore be considered one of the stronger teams in division 2. |
| 30/07/07 | 2007/2008 Season's fixtures loaded on the website. |
| 23/05/07 | We have finally claimed the match away at Elvy, which they postponed earlier in the season due to a lack of team; it has not been possible to rearrange the fixture, so they have been forced to concede. We are confirmed as division 2 runners-up for the second successive season - another great team effort! |
| 26/04/07 | A comfortable win last night in 'the furnace' against a depleted Bucklands side which contained only 3 of its usual team members. Thanks must go to Sue Lakeman for being a very able substitute for an injured Sue Jewell. |
| 14/04/07 | Before the match nobody would have predicted our eventual 8-1 victory against a talented DHBC 'B' team challenging us for second place in the division, but a fine performance by all concerned virtually assured us of the runners-up spot, and if Lordswood fail to win all their remaining games we may even win the division! |
| 24/03/07 | Another comfortable win last night against Westborough 'A', who have lost every match they have played this season. With no disrespect to Westborough, I think we can expect a tougher test in 3 weeks' time against DHBC 'B', who beat us earlier in the season. |
10/03/07 | A well-deserved (and unexpected!) win last night against a weakened Lordswood team probably on their way to winning the division, with all our pairs contributing in a great night. However, we must be concerned that the match finished at about 10:00, despite us having 3 courts all evening - on another occasion we wouldn't have completed all the matches. |
06/03/07 | An excellent 8-1 away victory against Hempstead 'B' last night - well done to all concerned. Also, Club History page added to site. |
05/03/07 | New club photos added. |
24/02/07 | A good win last night for the team against a slightly under-strength Hempstead 'B' side who were further hampered by conceding two rubbers due to injury. We wish Mick Beaumont a speedy recovery. Match finished at about 10:15, despite 2 rubbers not being played. |
18/02/07 | New website up and running - comments/suggestions welcome! |
